SILGENTAS
More and more devices in the home are connected to the internet, yet IT security is often skimped on. SILGENTAS (Security in the intelligent networked home) aims to improve the security of networked homes and residential quarters along the whole value chain, from hardware to application.
- It builds on a hardware security anchor, a secure element as in ID and bank cards, extended by an updatable security operating system. As a trusted instance in the device it fends off common attacks and makes sure that only the right partners talk to each other.
- The anchor is to be as cheap and economical as a SIM card, so that it can be built into any device.
- The focus is on residential quarters networked across apartments, with charging stations, meters, heating and photovoltaics, including the legal and data protection questions.
Our contribution
The University of Lübeck takes part with the Institute of Computer Engineering and the Institute for IT Security. The ITI studied reconfigurable edge hardware for intelligent intrusion detection: Reconfigurable Edge Hardware for Intelligent IDS: Systematic Approach, presented at the International Symposium on Applied Reconfigurable Computing (ARC) 2024.
