Research project
ISOLDE
RISC-V is an open instruction set architecture: anyone may build processors for it, without licence fees and without depending on a single vendor. ISOLDE (High Performance, Safe, Secure, Open-Source Leveraged RISC-V Domain-Specific Ecosystems) builds on it a European ecosystem for powerful, secure RISC-V systems.
- Building blocks: multiprocessor architectures, accelerators, peripherals, design tools and software, most of them at technology readiness level 7 or higher
- Safety and security mechanisms that speed up certification, for example to ISO 26262
- Industrial-grade open-source support for development, verification and maintenance; the customisable IP is hosted on servers in Europe
- Demonstrators from automotive, the Internet of Things, smart home and space; results are to reach products within two years of the project's end
Partners and funding
About 40 partners coordinated by Infineon Technologies AG, among them NXP, Thales, Leonardo, Intel, SYSGO, Frontgrade Gaisler, Codasip, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, FZI, OFFIS and the University of Lübeck. More on the project website.
Supported by the Key Digital Technologies Joint Undertaking (now Chips Joint Undertaking) under Horizon Europe, grant agreement No 101112274, and by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (then BMBF). Funded by the European Union.
