Heterogeneous Computing
Digital and analog, united in one computer. Heterogeneous systems, also called mixed-signal computing, process digital and analog signals within the same architecture. They combine the precision of digital processing with the ability to handle continuous signals directly.
What makes it special
- Real mixed-signal computers compute on the analog data itself instead of only converting it
- Continuous values can be represented directly, for example through non-binary voltage levels
